JTBW003-7days BIRD WATCHING
SAFARIS IN KENYA.
Kenya is known for it's bird species at
least (1080) at comparative ease where
so many species can be seen in a
relatively short period in stimulating
surroundings. Kenya holds world record
for most species seen in 24 hours (342
in November 1986) and has scarcely 12
hours of daylight. Kenya holds 1322
different species, which makes one of
the seven great bird areas in the world.

MAASAI MARA.

Day 1.
Hell's Gate
National Park covers an area of 68.25 km2
and is situated in the environs of Lake
Naivasha about 90 km from Nairobi. The park
is situated 14 km after the turnoff from the
old Nairobi-Naivasha highway. It is
characterised by diverse topography and
geological scenery. It is an important home
of the lammergeye

Day 2.
This lake offers one of the world's most
spectacular wildlife sights, that of
brilliant pink flamingos as far as the eye
can see. When conditions are right, between
one and two million lesser and greater
flamingos feed around the shores of the
shallow soda lake, together with tens of
thousands of other birds. The best place to
view the birds is from Baboon Cliff, where
you can look out over the dazzling fringe of
pink around the lake's shores. But be
warned: you are not guaranteed to see this
ornithological extravaganza - there are
times when the lake conditions change and
the birds move on to other soda lakes. So
check first before renting a car. Lake
Nakuru was declared a national park in 1961
and it now covers an area of some 200 kmē.
Here you will also see warthog, waterbuck
and large numbers of impala. Other slightly
shyer residents include buffalo, Rothschild
giraffe, eland, lion, leopard and black
rhino. It goes without saying that this is a
bird watchers paradise.
Leave for Nakuru. Game drive
and afternoon birding. All meals and
overnight at a lodge or campsite.
Day 3.
About 100km North of Nakuru, is this
beautiful tranquil fresh water lake host to
rare 300 bird’s species seen no where else
in Africa. Boat trips on the lakes are
popular to view the hippo, crocodile and
bird life. Also a visit to the Njemps tribal
villages or watch them fishing from their
frills papyrus boats is fun.

incredibly rich and varied wildlife and the
awesome, annual migration of millions of
wildebeest and antelope is the highlight of
many a visit to Africa. The area also
includes Narok, a small town with souvenir
shops, a post office and some banks. There
