JTCS 008 10 Days Kenya camping safari: Mount Kenya, Samburu, lake Turkana Trek, (via the Sweetwaters )Samburu, Marsabit, Chalbi Desert ,lake Baringo.

Day 1 - Mount Kenya You will be picked up from Hotel Boulevard and continue to Mount Kenya region. Afternoon game drive at Sweet waters game ranch to see the wildlife, This private ranch is the only sanctuary for rehabilitation in Kenya of these widely abused primates with two groups living in a environment as close to their natural habitat as possible. It is something interesting to see besides other attractions. Overnight at Mountain Rock Campsite.
Day 2 - Samburu
The highlight of this Reserve is the spectacular scenic beauty, rivers and forest. The local people have very rich and colorful cultural heritage. Wildlife includes, leopards, hippos, elephants, lions, reticulated giraffes, grevy’s zebras, bongos and crocodiles in the Uaso Nyiro River.
Accommodations: Several Game Lodges & a public campsite located inside the park.
After breakfast depart in the morning for Samburu game reserve. Afternoon game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight camping.
Day 3- Samburu
The day is spent game viewing in the park. Elephants abound; you may see lion, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, grevy's zebra and oryx.
Day 4 - Marsabit
We head North again along the African highway to Marsabit, which is an extinct volcano heavily forested on its upper slopes. After setting up camp, we will visit the lodge inside the National Park. You may see elephant, buffalo and kudu as the lodge is situated on the edge of a water-filled crater. We do not go further into the park as thick forest hampers the progress of large vehicles and viewing is difficult.
Day 5 - Kalacha
We visit Marsabit town and another volcanic crater before making our way back into the desert and lava flows. We camp at Kalacha, a small settlement on the edge of the Chalbi Desert.
Day 6 - Lake Turkana
We depart early crossing the Chalbi Desert. The desert cannot be crossed if wet but there are alternative roads around the North and South. We arrive at our semi - permanent beach campsite just outside Loiyangalani soon after lunch. Here we have traditional Turkana Huts with a cool breeze blowing from the lake for use if available otherwise we pitch tents in an alternative campsite. Indeed a perfect place to relax protected from the scorching sun and heat characteristic of the harsh climate of this remote area.
Day 7 - Lake Turkana
We spend the day relaxing and bathing only interrupted by a short boat excursion to visit the surrounding areas. In addition, we visit Loiyangalani and the community settled there.
Day 8 - Baragoi
We journey via South Horr to Baragoi, which is a Samburu Centre. The Samburu abound in their red-ochre.
Day 9 - Lake Baringo
Heading South via Maralal we visit Lake Baringo where we do some bird-watching or take an evening boat ride to see the Hippos and crocodiles. overnight in a campsite.
Day 10 – Nairobi -Breakfast then back to Nairobi late afternoon.
