DAYS KENYA LODGE : SHABA
GAME RESERVE, LAKE NAKURU AND MAASAI MARA
Day
1 .
Arrive at JKA, transfer to the Nairobi Serena for an overnight.
Day 2 . SHABA
GAME RESERVE
This park is 314 kms from Nairobi To get there by air is 45 minutes and by
road 5 hours. Shaba game reserve is a semi desert with a rugged hilly
terrain, with great rocky kopjes (small isolated hills) and lots of springs
supporting the abundant wildlife. The solitary mountain rises to 2,145m from
an otherwise flat area. The steep ascent requireThis place is replent with
klipspringer and hyrax who love the hills. The specialties that can only be
found in this part of the world are the gravy zebra, the Somali ostrich,
generuk and the reticulated giraffe and gazelles the lesser kudu leopard and
plenty of lion and herds of elephants and plenty of bird life and other
small game.
Shaba Game Reserve was made famous by the late Joy Adamson and her lioness
Elsa which and is often referred to as the Born free country
: Breakfast and early departure for Shaba game reserve – this is one of the
most scenic areas in Kenya and is the location where the Kenya Discovery
programme was filmed, game drive to the Shaba Lodge, late lunch, afternoon
game drive, overnight Shaba Lodge. BLD
Day 3.
Breakfast, morning and afternoon game drives in this reserve also known as
the Born Free Country due to the famous Joy Adamson and her Lioness Elsa ,
overnight Shaba Lodge. BLD
Day 4. LAKE
NAKURU
160 km from Nairobi. A
shallow alkaline lake on the edge of Nakuru town is worlds famous of levels
that determines the quality of algae on which the birds feed millions of
greater and lesser flamingos which depends on the water. It is a sanctuary
for the black and white rhinos and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe.
Accommodation: Lake Nakuru Lodge & Lion Hill Lodge. Also available, a hostel
& a guesthouse, Makaria Falls campsite, all located inside the park.
Breakfast, early departure for Lake Nakuru stopping at Thompson’s Falls,
picnic lunch enroute, game drive to the Lion Hill Lodge. BLD
Day 5
Spent exploring lake Nakuru national park and viewing wildlife – Lake Nakuru
is most famous for it’s thousands of pink flamingo but it has a very high
concentration of both the black and the white rhino, leopard and all the
wildlife apart from elephant; there are no elephant in Lake Nakuru park –
overnight Lion Hill Lodge. BLD
Day 6 . MAASAI
MARA
This reserve is Kenya’s
most popular game sanctuary, most famous and visited game reserve in Kenya.
The park adjoins the Serengeti park of Tanzania. A land of undulating hills
and rolling grasslands supports a huge animal population. During the months
of July to September, millions of wildebeests and zebras migration overflow
into the Mara from the Serengeti national park in Tanzania. The black manned
lion dominated the Mara, cheetahs, elephants, cape buffaloes, giraffe,
gazelle, antelope and many other plains game are to be found here.
Accommodation: Game lodges, Luxury tented camps, public and privately owned
campsite.
Breakfast, drive to the Maasai Mara traveling along the Great Rift Valley
until Mai Mahui, then crossing the Valley floor before climbing up the other
side and reaching Narok and finally the Maasai Mara, game drive to the Mara
Sarova, lunch, afternoon game drive, overnight Mara Sarova. BLD
Day 07
Spent exploring the vast savannahs and viewing wildlife – Maasai Mara is
most famous for the many lion and this is where the BBC’s “Big Cat Diaries”
are filmed – overnight Mara Sarova. BLD
Day 08
Breakfast, game drive leaving Maasai Mara and returning to Nairobi and The
Stanley, where day rooms have been reserved until 6.00 p.m., evening
transfer to the airport for the flight out,
